Resolve to dare

Inspiration from Theodore Roosevelt for this year’s resolutions…

“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.”

  1. This was a guy who was shot before giving a presidential campaign speech; a book in his chest pocket took the brunt, but the bullet still lodged in his chest. He gave his speech anyway, then opened his coat to the audience to reveal his blood-stained shirt and announced “It takes more than a bullet to stop a bull moose!” (Or words to that effect). He lost his bid for a second term as president, but you have to admire the guy. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. He’s a guy that earned the right to the quote you shared!

  2. You should read “The River of Doubt” about TR’s journey through the Amazon after he lost the election…couldn’t put it down. You should also come visit again, & we’ll road trip to Teddy Roosevelt NP. ;)
